Ibiza Charidee: Smashie's so Nicey!

Ibiza resident and Madness nutty boy Chas Smash has gone 'One Step Beyond' for island charity Apneef. The story starts far, far away at Carlisle United Football Club who wanted to use the Madness hit for the entrance of the team for their League One home matches.

Chas agreed to record a special voiceover for the club on the condition that they gave his fee to the Ibiza charity for kids with special needs. Smashie was first introduced to the work they do when he performed at last year's Butterfly Ball organised by young Jill Canney.

When the kids are united, Carlisle United

The fruits of his studio labours arrived this week in the form of a giant toy box straight from Carlisle United. Games, educational aids, remote control fire engines, teddy bears and Carlisle United football kits donated by the fans and players were distributed to the APNEEF children during one of their workshops in the Can Raspalls College in San Jordi.

If this wasn't enough, a cheque for €4000 raised in last October's Butterfly Ball was handed over to them as well.
