Natural Ibiza: Mosquito Repellent

In hot climates like Ibiza's, mosquitoes can be a real pain. So what can you do to stop getting bitten?
A can of fly spray from the supermarket will stop them dead in their tracks but doesn't last in the room for long. Also from the supermarket, a plug-in which releases an anti-mosquito chemical will work 24/7, but there are more natural, environmentally friendly ways of keeping the little pests at bay.

It's been widely believed for years that the scent of certain herbs; basil, eucalyptus, cloves, geranium (pelargonium), peppermint, rosemary, lemon balm (citronella), onions, and garlic will divert the mozzies from your jugular vain (or was that vampires?) and you could pick up a pot of most of them from the many markets or garden centres in Ibiza.

Another theory is that vitamin b flowing through your veins will send the message 'buzz off mozzie' loud and clear to the little blighters. A course of Vb tablets will do the trick but other foods rich in the vitamin work just as well; bananas, marmite (but not if you're going to kiss anyone) and joy, oh joy, BEER!

If all these measures fail then just do what my wife did – marry someone who is more attractive to mosquitoes than you are.
