Otherwise known as Mardi Gras, here in Ibiza we call it Carnaval. Like the rest of the world we celebrate the arrival of Lent 40 days before Easter so in 2009 'Fat Tuesday' is 24th February.
The island's main Carnaval procession is in Ibiza Town on Sunday 22nd and starts at 11.00 by the Formentera ferry harbour winds its way around the crowded streets of the town and finished up in the Vara de Rey for the judging of the best float.
In San Antonio and Santa Eulalia the parades take place on 24th at around 5pm.
