The use of poles or sticks in Nordic Walking enhances ordinary walking and makes it twice as effective as a fitnes technique by using upper body muscles and making the muscles work harder whilst at the same time making it 'feel' easier.
San Antonio council are promoting Nordic Walking in the borough and recently held an inaugural event where around 100 people took part in a mass walk. They've produced a brochure with 5 routes which take walkers along coastal paths, through beautiful countryside and take in a couple of vineyards too!
