Ibiza Fiesta: Carnaval 2009

The sun shone on Ibiza Town's Carnaval Parade this morning and as usual tens of thousands of people turned out to line the streets as the procession passed by. Hundreds and hundreds of people actually took part in the procession, members of clubs, neighbours' associations, schools, and so on, who have spent months planning and rehearsing for the big day.The parade was so long, and with so many floats, that as the last one passed by, the first one was coming back into view on the return leg of the journey!
It was really difficult to decide which was the best theme and costumes of the day with so many to choose from, but a special mention has to go the Sa Capelleta neighbours association for the most populous contribution to the Carnaval with their ABBA float, and the Capricorn Dance Academy, choreographed by Sandy Plant with a tribute to Queen.

And we couldn't let an opportunity slip to post a video of the day, here's Freddie Mercury accompanied by the Capricorn Girls and Boys.
